Dr. David Wallik, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. David Wallik earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1984, where after he completed hsi residency at Women’s College and Toronto General Hospital sites. Dr. Wallik has undertaken work at McMaster University in Hamilton, where he explored cutaneous (skin) healing in a porcine model following the specific production of a variety of (cutaneous) pedicle flaps. Throughout the 1980s, Dr. Wallik was investigating the properties of hair restoration surgery, but at that time, as a consequence of older style circular plugs (which would contain 18-22 hairs per graft), he felt that this technique required reconsideration prior to advocating hair restoration to his clients.
He is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons and regularly attends worldwide conferences to remain in the forefront of hair transplantation.
Dr. Wallik amalgamated with surgical Nurse Clinician Lea Marten in 1993, Ms Marten having worked in a large surgical hair restoration practice in the city of Toronto.
Together, they formed Advanced Hair Transplant Clinic, and although their present office has been located in Oakville since 1995, they have worked in the greater Toronto area of cities including Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and Hamilton.
Dr. Wallik and Nurse Marten both feel that they are committed to offering their clients the most up to date procedure available, and both are immersed with the literature of this specialty as well as participate in regular conferences, seminars and workshops worldwide. They pay careful attention to the interests and needs of their clients, and our facility is such that Dr. Wallik and Nurse Marten remain intimately involved with all aspects of each procedure. “We place our patients’ priorities first and foremost and thus will never exceed two surgical procedures in the space of one day”.
We are happy to educate our clients in the nuances of surgical hair restoration and feel that a thoroughly informed client is our best advocate. Because our clinic is a separate wing of Dr. Wallik’s residence, privacy and comfort are underscored. We pride ourselves in providing a service that will stand the test of time. Although immediate client satisfaction is our goal, careful planning and treatment will ensure optimal long term results. We encourage all prospective clients to visit us for a no cost consultation to learn how our service will be of benefit to your unique needs.”
At the Advanced Hair Transplant Clinic we specialize in a technique known as follicular transplantation. Here's why --
Look closely at the hair on your head. You will notice that sometimes one hair, but more often two, three and four hair clusters, emerge out of a single pore. These grouping of hair are called follicular units, which, with the use of microscopes, we sort into bunches based on the number of hairs in each cluster.
Because follicular transplantation makes use of your own natural groupings of hair, when we reinsert the hair into the balding area, the natural look of the results are second to none.
"I believe that the decision to proceed with a transplant should be made with a great deal of thoughtfulness. Many techniques will improve your appearance today, but equal, if not greater consideration, must be given to the years ahead!"
